CHRISTMAS

Christmas is coming!
Flyers, newspapers
radio and television
tell us that.

Each year it comes
earlier than the
year before.
Do this! Do that!
By that! Buy this!
Go here, there, everywhere.
People become frustrated, impatient.
Frowns predominate.
Smiles, conspicuous b
y their absence.
Hurry here, hurry there
We haven't enough time
to do everything.

Yet, quietly, insistently
the message comes through -
Slow clown, take it quietly, easil
y.
Smile, the smile is contagious.
Talk to
your neighbour,
someone in the queue.
Have fun;

fun, without alcohol.
In the excitement, bustle
of Christmas preparation -
there is another message -
Jo
y to the world!

Peace and goodwill
To people everywhere.
Let peace, jo
y, goodwill
be yours this Christmas.
And - share it!

Pray the largest prayers.

You cannot think a prayer so large that God,
in answering it,

will not wish you had made it larger.
Pray not for crutches
but for wings.

PHILLIPS BROOKS

Christmas is not a date.
It is a state of
mind.
MARY ELLEN CHASE

A good conscience is a continual Christmas.
If we truly love people, we will desire for them far more than it is within our power to give them, and this leads us to prayer.
Intercession is a way of loving others.
