Heaven is full of answers to prayers for which no one ever bothered to ask. BILLY GRAHAM |
Grant us, O Lord, to know that which is worth knowing, to love that which is worth loving, to praise that which pleases you most, and to esteem highly that which is precious to you.
Give us the right judgement to discern between things visible and spiritual, and above all, to seek after the good pleasure of your will. Through Jesus Christ your son our Saviour. Amen
I
lift these hands, dear God, to You,
in praise and thanks for all you do.
You light the path through all my days
and bless me with your loving ways...
I
lift these hands dear God, to You,
in troubled hours when joys are few.
You bear me up on eagles'wings and see
me through each test life brings.
I
lift these hands, dear God, to You,
please grant me wisdom, patience, too.
Then fill my heart with love and caring,
precious gifts you've made for sharing.
Lord, Thou knowest better than I myself that I am growing older and will someday be old. Keep me from the fatal habit of thinking I must say something on every subject and on every occasion.
Release me from craving to straighten out everybody's affairs. Make me thoughtful but not moody; helpful but not bossy. With my vast store of wisdom, it seems a pity not to use it all; but Thou knowest, Lord, that I want a few friends at the end. Keep my mind free from the recital of endless details; give me wings to get to the point. Seal my lips on my aches and pains; they are increasing, and love of rehearsing them is becoming sweeter as the years go by.
I dare not ask for improved memory, but for a growing humility and a lessening cock-sureness when my memory seems to clash with the memories of others. Teach me the glorious lesson that occasionally I may be mistaken.
Keep me reasonably sweet, for a sour old person is one of the crowning works of the devil. Give me the ability to see good things in unexpected places and talents in unexpected people; and give, O Lord, the grace to tell them so.
Amen.

Pray the largest prayers. You cannot think a
prayer so large that God, in answering it, will not wish you had made it larger. Pray not for
crutches but for wings. PHILLIPS

Merciful Father God, watch over our children with your tender care and love.
Grant that by their baptism they may know the guidance of your Spirit, and day by day grow in the knowledge and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Keep them from all temptation, teach them your truth, and grant that they may find eternal life in due time.
Amen.
God
our Father, You see Your children growing up in an unsteady and confusing
world. Show them that Your ways give more life than the ways of the world, and
that following You is better than chasing after selfish goals.
Help
them to take failure, not as a measure of their worth, but as a chance for a
new start. Give them strength to hold their faith in you, and to keep alive
their joy in your creation. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Lord,
grant me Time
enough
to do
all the chores, join in the games, help with the lessons, and say the night
prayers, and still have a few moments left over for me.
Energy
enough
to be
bread-baker and breadwinner, knee-patcher and peacemaker, ballplayer and bill
juggler.
Hands enough
to wipe
away the tears, to reach out when I'm needed, to hug and to hold, to tickle and
touch.
Heart
enough
to share
and to care, to listen and to understand, and to make a loving home for my
family.

The self-sufficient does not pray, the selfsatisfied will not pray, the self-righteous cannot pray. No man is greater than his prayer life. LEONARD RAVENHILL |
Dear Lord God, I pray for your blessing upon my mother and father, my sisters and brothers.
Watch over them every day and night. Help me to try and help them, and may we all together love and serve you more and more, until we enter the eternal life in your presence. I pray this through Jesus Christ my Lord and my Saviour.
Amen.
Creator of all things, true source of Light
and Wisdom, lofty source of all Being, graciously let a ray of Your Brilliance
penetrate into the darkness of my understanding and take from me the double
darkness in which I have been born, sin and ignorance.
Give me a sharp sense
of understanding , a retentive memory, and the ability to grasp things
correctly and fundamentally.
Grant me the talent of
being exact in my explanations, and the ability to express myself with
thoroughness and charm.
Point out the beginning,
direct the progress, help in the completion.
Through Christ our
Lord.

Prayer is the very highest energy of which the mind is capable. SAMUEL TAYLOR COLERIDGE |
Bless us, O God the Father who has Created us.
Bless us, O God the Son who redeemed us.
Bless us, O God the Holy Spirit who sanctifies us.
O blessed Trinity, keep us in body, soul and spirit as we live our eternal life.
Amen.
That no man may
be hurt when I pass by.
Thou gavest
life;
I pray no act of
mine may take away or mar that act of Thine.
Shelter those,
dear Lord, who bear me company, from evil of fire and all calamity.
Teach me to use
my car to meet their needs, nor miss through love of speed the beauty of this
world;
that thus I may
with joy and courtesy go on my way.
