THE MIRACLE
Job 9:10 He performs wonders that cannot be
fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.
First some friends, then the papers
spoke of the Miracle.
And now here and everywhere words about this Miracle abound.
And from deep within me an ache demands to surface.
For long ago, something within me broke.
A Miracle, why not for me?
Now, here I am, people everywhere,
and all I hear is talk about the "shrine".
I never knew there were so many "specialists" on Miracles,
Always ready to feed the hunger for the Supernatural.
Whom shall I believe, and what about my need?
As I watch, I see hopeful ones in Prayer,
The tinkling of silver as reliques change hands.
I watch the tears, maybe it is for joy, You say a broken heart?
My mind gets confused, by all these voices;
calling for repentence and greater Faith!
I cannot now see the Shrine, at last escaped from all this din.
My eyes sweep the crisp mountains on the Horizon,
The heart aches to know, where is God in all of this?
And from deep within, or is it from all around?
I hear: "The greatest Miracle of all is Life".
The hunger for the Supernatural is miraculously stilled.
The true miracle is not the limb that heals, but the heart that changes.
I find a new reason to live, more beautiful than the artist's
masterpiece.
And my heart's praise rise to beyond the mountains
Praising the Eternal One, who gave me life and a reason to be.

Pray the largest prayers. You cannot thinka prayer so large
that God,
in
answering it, will not wish you had made
it larger. Pray notfor
crutches
but for wings.
